Michael A. Jordan

The Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina) is my home, and I have lived in this area all my life. As you can imagine, my name gets lots of attention. I did graduate from the University of North Carolina; but I’m not the famous basketball player. I often joke that I just play in a different court than “that other guy,” but I think there may be something about the name that makes one very competitive. I cannot stand the thought of doing less than the best job possible at anything.

For the first eight years of my professional life, I owned a smaller law practice in Durham, North Carolina, and handled a variety of matters including accident cases, criminal law, real estate, entertainment law, contracts, and estate planning. That practice was very rewarding, and my associates and I were able to help a lot of people in a variety of situations.

I closed my practice in late 2000 after a debilitating eye injury. It took months for me to physically recover from the injury, and even now I have to take special care of my eyes. That injury was a very traumatic and difficult point in my life. I learned first-hand what it was like to deal with an overwhelming personal injury. I learned the value of someone listening when I felt the need to talk about the pain I was experiencing. I learned the value of disability coverage, particularly if you don’t have it. I learned that life seems to come to a grinding halt when you are injured and cannot work. Challenged by this experience, I joined The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in March of 2001. My background of managing so many different areas of practice taught me the flexibility necessary to work on a variety of personal injury cases. I believe it is an unfortunate truth that insurance companies are not often fair to injured individuals whether the injury result from a car accident, an on-the-job accident, medical malpractice, or a recalled drug, so we stay very busy trying to help injured individuals who otherwise would not be fairly compensated for their injuries.

Many people are hesitant to contact a lawyer about their personal injury. Most people expect the insurance company to treat them fairly, and they don’t want to seem greedy. But they soon realize they need a friend, someone who knows how to make things happen; someone who cannot be pushed around by the insurance company. We are here to protect the injured.
