Perry J. Pelaez
I have spent my entire legal career as a trial attorney. I am an experienced civil litigator, having tried hundreds of cases in both state and federal court in several jurisdictions. In addition, I have successfully argued cases before the Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court, the highest court in this state.
I was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised in a modest middle class home. Before beginning my legal career, I worked my way through college while employed in a variety of jobs, including as a bicycle courier and a line cook. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Spanish language. Thereafter, I attended law school at the University of Dayton and as a result, moved to Ohio. While at law school, I excelled at oral argument and participated in several trial related competitions.
After law school, I worked at a general practice law firm, which had an active trial and appellate practice. I represented clients in a variety of legal areas, including personal injury, real estate transactions, and bankruptcy. The next several years of my legal career were spent in a courtroom, as an Assistant District Attorney, prosecuting cases on behalf of individuals who were victims of crime.
In 2000, my family and I relocated to North Carolina after becoming enamored with its climate and quality of life. Once in North Carolina, I worked at a law firm representing not only large companies in complex commercial litigation but also individuals needing assistance with problems which occur in everyday life. I joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2007 and am able to draw on my diverse legal background and extensive trial experience to assist individuals who have suffered injuries as the result of someone else’s negligence.
My wife and I are the proud parents of three children. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, playing music, ACC basketball, and spending time with my family.
