Bus driver charged after Chapel Hill pedestrian hit by transit bus

On October 27, 2008, a 33-year-old woman was at the intersection of South Columbia Street and Mason Farm Road in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, when she was hit by a bus. She was transported to UNC Hospitals, where she died the next day from injuries sustained in the bus accident.
The 65-year-old bus driver was immediately placed on unpaid administrative leave until he was fired one week after the fatal bus accident. The man was then charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
